Coaching is not new! Jesus was a fabulous coach in His day. For the most part when confusion prevailed, Jesus asked smart questions. He chose not to give advice, to preach or to offer counseling, His listeners gained perspective and direction for their journey when He asked them smart, strategic questions. Smart questions beget smart answers. Where counseling is helpful to look back on the path and get clarity on what has been and what has kept you from moving forward, coaching looks forward to what lies ahead. Coaching is not advice giving, consulting, counseling or teaching, but asking smart questions that will shed light on the path and create new pictures in your mind of what God’s promise for the future might look like. Proverbs 29:18 says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish …”

Coaching time is you time. It is a time to draw away from the complexity of life to get clarity on where you are going, your goals, visions, values, plans, and passions to give back into society. Coaching will help you to walk your talk through putting plans and strategies to your vision; it will help you strengthen your resolve through understanding what values motivate you; it will help you emerge into mastery, then help you to turn around and discover how you can reach to help others to fulfill their life’s purposes.
